local businesses, we are ensuring a sustainable use for the land without
overdevelopment. |

 Using
locally farmed wood for flooring and building products increases the
sustainability of our local forests by assisting with the cost of ownership.
Without an active market, these forests are often sold to development to
offset the huge expense of ownership. In losing these forests, we lose the
valuable landscapes that make this area so attractive. The Mass Woodlands
Coop also ensures that its members have responsible forest management plans
to help keep Western Mass an environmentally attractive and critical area. |
